Brant (BRAN)
We saw them at our trip to Biddeford Pool! theyre like canada geese only cuter
Canada Goose (CAGO)
These guys are everywhere and I am always sure to stay away after getting attacked as a kid. I still feel for them, though- one got hit by a limo at my high school prom and I’ll never forget it 🙁
American Black Duck (ABDU)
When I was in middle school a black duck laid her eggs in a bush about 5 feet from my front door. Theyre easily identifiable by their head pattern
Common Eider (COEI)
We saw them at our trip to Biddeford Pool! The extended orange on their face in combination with the black/white contrast helps to identify them
Common Loon (COLO)
I have not seen one of these, but I would think their feather pattern and greenish neck ring would be identifiable
Bonaparte’s Gull (BOGU)
Identifiable by their brightly coloured legs and black head
Lesser black-backed gull (LBBG)
Like the GBBG, only smaller!
Barn owl (BNOW)
Their white, round face is very distinct!
Great horned owl (GHOW)
As their name suggests, the “horned” appearance of their ear tufts makes them identifiable
Barred owl (BDOW)
I saw several of these in museum prep class last semester. Their dark eyes and yellow bill are distinct
Northern Saw-whet Owl (NSWO)
These guys are small and angry looking! definitely identifiable
